Many people opt for after-market CNG kits or factory-fitted CNG kits. Manufacturers like Hyundai and Maruti Suzuki offer factory-fitted CNG kits with their vehicles. Buying a CNG vehicle makes sense in today’s world where prices of petrol and diesel are rising. However, what if you have a luxury vehicle and want to save money on fuel expenses. Well, here is a video of a Mercedes-Benz C200 that is running on CNG.

The video has been uploaded by Raspreet Gill on his YouTube channel. The vlogger gives us a tour of the luxury sedan and takes it up for refuelling CNG also. He also shares his driving experience of the Mercedes-Benz C200 that is running on CNG.

The vlogger first shows us the engine bay of the C200 Kompressor. It is important to note that the vehicle is now 13 years old at this point. The CNG has been fitted quite well and at a first glance, you won’t be able to make out that the luxury sedan is running on CNG. The C200 used to come with a four-cylinder petrol engine that was capable of producing 185 bhp of max power and a peak torque output of 285 Nm. It is mated to an automatic transmission.

Then the vlogger shows us the boot of the sedan where the CNG cylinder is placed.  The cylinder is covered with a black cover so that it does not ruin the look of the boot. The CNG cylinder has been made up by Rama which is an Italian manufacturer. The cylinder’s capacity is 14 kgs.

The person takes the C200 to a CNG station nearby to fill it up. For refilling the CNG cylinder, the person would need to open up the bonnet because that is where the refilling nozzle is placed. The metallic plate that is mandatory for all CNG vehicles is also placed on the right side of the bonnet just where the refilling nozzle is placed. Around 3.3 kgs of CNG is filled in the cylinder. This might happen because there must be some gas already in the cylinder.

Then the vlogger shows up a small instrument that has been placed on the left side of the steering column. The instrument shows us the level of the CNG and the driver can switch the vehicle fuel from here. There is a light with a ‘G’ written depicting that the vehicle is running on CNG and there is a petrol pump icon on which an orange light turns on when the vehicle is running on petrol. You simply have to press the button to change the running fuel.

The person also takes the vehicle for a spin. There is a check engine light in the instrument cluster which is normal for many vehicles that are running on after-market CNG kits. The car has done more than 87,000 km. The vlogger says that the electronics work absolutely fine on the car. He also manually shifts the gear and the vehicle do not show any issues. He says that there is a bit of guzzling sound that comes from the cylinder. He thinks that the C200 will be a great city car as it is running on CNG as it is much cheaper and cost-effective than an electric vehicle.
