Tata Motors to launch long-range Nexon EV on May 11th

Tata Motors has confirmed that they will be launching the long-range version of the Nexon EV. The launch will happen on 11th May. There have been multiple sightings of the test mule of the long-range Nexon EV. Tata Motors will be making mechanical changes to the compact SUV. As of now, we do not know whether there will be cosmetic changes or not. The long-range Nexon EV could start from somewhere around Rs. 17 to Rs. 18 lakhs ex-showroom.

The current Nexon EV comes with a 30.2 kWh battery pack whereas the long-range Nexon EV is expected to get a 40 kWh battery pack. This simply means that the new Nexon EV will have a longer range than the regular Nexon EV. The current Nexon EV will be sold alongside the long-range Nexon EV.

The driving range of the long-range Nexon EV as per ARAI is expected to be 400 km whereas the current Nexon has a driving range of 312 km. The Nexon EV delivers a real-world driving range of around 200 to 250 km which means that the long-range Nexon EV should be able to go 300 km on a single charge. This will be very beneficial for people who are looking to do long journeys on their Nexon EV.

The batteries will be placed in the boot so the boot capacity is expected to decrease. The current Nexon EV and the ICE-Nexon have the same 350 litres of boot capacity. To handle the additional weight, Tata Motors has added rear disc brakes to increase the stopping power.

The exterior is expected to stay the same. However, we can expect some different badges and a new set of alloy wheels. The interior is expected will be the same but there could be some new features. It could get a new fast charger for home charging. The current charger is a 6.6 kW AC charger and the new charger is expected to be a 6.6 kW AC charger. Long-range Nexon EV is also expected to come with ventilated seats, adjustable regeneration, cruise control, park mode, Electronic Stability Program and an air purifier.

The current electric motor of Nexon EV produces 120 PS of max power and 245 Nm of peak torque. Using the 3.3 kW charger, it can be charged to 100 percent in 10 hours. If you can find a DC charger then it will top from 0 to percent in 60 minutes. If you get installed the home box charger then SUV will take 8 hours to charge from 20 percent to 80 percent. Tata offers an 8-year or 1.6 lakh km standard warranty on the battery pack. Moreover, they have also protected the battery pack from dust and water, it gets an IP67 rating.

The feature list of Nexon EV includes 35 connected car features, Hill Ascent assist, hill descent assists, electric sunroof, leatherette seats, multi-function steering wheel, projector headlamps with LED Daytime Running Lamps, touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, rear parking camera, dual airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts and much more.
