Mahindra Thar stuck on a pile of gravel rescued by a tractor

Mahindra Thar is one of the most popular 4×4 SUVs in the market. It is the most affordable SUV in the segment as well. We have seen several videos of Mahindra Thar off-roading in extreme conditions. We have off-road videos where Mahindra Thar and other SUVs have failed. In such cases, either the terrain is too tough or the driver is not that experienced. Here we have a video where vlogger gets a Mahindra Thar stuck on a pile of gravel in the middle of the road that was currently under construction.
The video has been uploaded by Anmol’s Garage on their YouTube channel. When the vlogger started recording, the Thar was already stuck on the gravel. Vlogger then explains that they were trying to drive the SUV through the gravel to a shop that was right next to it. The SUV went up the gravel pile easily and as the rear wheels started to climb, the SUV got beached. Vlogger and his friend started trying hard to get the SUV hard but, the loose gravel and the soil in it made things a lot more harder for them.

They had engaged 4×4 and even that made no difference. The main reason why Thar could not move forward was because of the underbody. It was resting on the gravel and the wheels had no traction to them. They were simply spinning and the same can be seen in the video as well. After several unsuccessful trials, vlogger calls a tractor driver who was working nearby. He then comes to the spot and takes out a tow rope. He ties the rope to Mahindra Thar and starts pulling it out. Vlogger and his friend had put bunch of rocks under the wheels to see if they would help in gaining traction. Those rocks were stopping the Thar from moving forward while the tractor was pulling.
Tractor driver then asks vlogger to remove the rocks and pulls the Thar out within no time. All this is happening in the middle of a road where there was construction going on. The roadworks was in progress and the gravel seen there on the road was actually gravel scrapped from the road only. Mahindra Thar is a capable off-roader but, that does not mean it will not get stuck anywhere. Just like any 4×4 vehicle, Thar also has its limitations. If the vlogger and his friend had taken a different approach to tack the obstacle, they might not have got stuck. They could have easily approached the obstacle in an angle that they can get on to the newly made road on the other side without getting stuck.
Mahindra Thar seen here is a petrol automatic. It is powered by a 2.0 litre mStallion turbocharged petrol engine that generates 150 Bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque. The diesel version of Mahindra Thar is powered by a 2.2 litre mHawk turbocharged diesel engine that generates 130 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque. Both petrol and diesel are available with manual and automatic transmission and the 4×4 is offered as a standard feature across the range.
