Mahindra’s next big launch for the Indian market will be the new generation of Scorpio. They will be calling it Scorpio N. It is important to note that the Scorpio N is not a replacement for the current Scorpio. The current SUV will remain on sale but will be called Scorpio Classic. The test mules of the Scorpio N are still running on our Indian roads despite Mahindra revealing the new SUV. Now, a test mule’s interior was spotted in detail.

The video is uploaded on YouTube by Jitendra kumar AutoLine. The video is shot somewhere around in Chakan near Pune. The Youtuber climbs into the second row of the Scorpio N. It gets two individual captain chairs instead of a bench seat. The captain seats give more room and are more comfortable when compared to bench seats. Having said that, there will be a version of the SUV on offer that will come with a bench seat.

We can also see that there are rear AC vents and blower control. There is a USB Type-C port to charge your mobile devices and seat pockets to store stuff. It seems like the occupants have enough legroom. Mahindra is giving a one-touch fold and tumble function so the third-row occupants would be able to get inside more easily.

The person also opens the rear tailgate which still opens sideways via a door handle. There is a minimal amount of boot space when the third-row is up. Interestingly, the third row is a bench seat so the whole seat will fold. In the XUV500 and XUV700, the third row consisted of two individual seats. So, you could fold one to increase the boot space and the second seat could be used by a passenger.

From the images, we can see that the Scorpio N will share some of its bits with the XUV700. So, the steering wheel, wiper and headlamp stalks and the instrument cluster are taken from the XUV700’s MX variant. There is a new touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

The variant that was spotted is likely to be the top-end variant. It had a gear lever from an automatic transmission. It is a 6-speed torque converter unit. There will also be a 6-speed manual gearbox on offer. So, it was the 2.2-litre diesel engine that produces 172 hp of max power and 400 Nm of peak torque. If you opt for the manual gearbox then the torque output drops to 370 Nm.

On the other hand, the 2.0-litre petrol engine produces 197 hp of max power and 370 Nm of peak torque which is the same as the Mahindra XUV700. There are some other reports that do say that the Scorpio N would be offered in multiple states of tune. We will have to wait for the official launch to know the exact specs of both engines.
