2022 Mahindra Scorpio spotted undisguised during TVC shoot

Mahindra’s big launch this year will be the new generation of Scorpio. It is expected to be called Scorpio Sting and will be a major upgrade from the current Scorpio. The homegrown manufacturer will not discontinue the current Scorpio, instead, both will stay on sale simultaneously. There have been numerous spotting of the 2022 Scorpio. However, now the SUV has been spotted undisguised during a TVC shoot.

The picture has been shared on Instagram by Navdeep Dhillon. In the picture, we can see that the Scorpio looks a lot more muscular and beefy when compared to the current Scorpio. There is a six-slat grille that we have seen on all new Mahindras. We also get to see a silver skid plate and an aggressive bumper. There is a C-shaped LED Daytime Running Lamps that surround the fog lamps.

The headlamps will be a projector setup. We have spotted test mules with an LED setup as well as with a halogen setup. So, it is not yet confirmed which one will be on the production-spec Scorpio. However, in the leaked picture, the headlamps look quite weird.

We can see roof rails and huge wheel arches that are filled with new alloy wheels that will be diamond-cut units. The alloy wheels measure 17-inches in size and the tyres are MRF Wanderer, they measure 245/65. We are expecting that the lower variants will get 16-inch wheels. The current Scorpio has a tyre size of 235/65.

From the previous spy shots, we know that there would be side steps to make it easier for occupants to get in or get out. There will be conventional door handles instead of the flush-sitting door handles that we have seen on the XUV700. The rear tailgate will be flat and will be still side hinged. It would come with a door handle to open just like we have seen on the current Scorpio. Other things that we do know are there will be Volvo inspired LED tail lamps, a high mounted stop lamp, a shark-fin antenna and a rear wiper with a washer.

The interior will also be more up-market than the current Scorpio. The interior theme will be brown and black. There are also reports that this time, the Scorpio will be offered as a 6-seater or a 7-seater SUV. There could also be third-row seating on offer.

The 2022 Scorpio will come with automatic climate control, a multi-function steering wheel, cruise control, a new touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an electric sunroof, wireless charger, analogue instrument cluster and much more.

There would be two engine options on offer, 2.0-litre turbo petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel engine. According to reports, the diesel engine will be offered in two states of tune.  Both the engines would be offered with a 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. There would also be a 4×4 system on offer with a low range gearbox and terrain modes.
