Mahindra’s SUVs have been an incredible success in the Indian market. Their XUV700 and the Thar are selling like hotcakes right now. The homegrown manufacturer will be launching the new-gen Scorpio this year. They have started releasing teasers and the SUV has been codenamed Z101. Till now, we have seen numerous test mules with camouflage. Well now, the SUV has been spied without any camouflage.
The images are shared on Instagram. In the images, we can see the 2022 Scorpio in white colour. The new-gen Scorpio retains its boxy-SUV design with its road presence. This was important as Scorpio is known for its immense road presence and SUV stance.
The Scorpio in the pictures is still wearing the old Mahindra logo whereas in the teaser video we have seen Scorpio wearing the new twins-peak logo of Mahindra that debuted on XUV700. It has the 6-vertical slats that Mahindra uses on all of its SUVs.

There are twin-projector headlamps that will use LEDs. The bumper is relatively simple and has fog lamps with C-shaped LED Daytime Running Lamps. There is also a skid plate in the front. The bonnet is flat and interestingly the twin hood scoop design is missing. What also is different is the alloy wheel design. It might happen that Mahindra offers two alloy wheels design and sizes for the lower variants and the higher variants.
The Scorpio gets strong shoulder lines and sculptured wheel arches. The chrome belt on the sides does have some elements from the Alturas G4. There is a lot of black plastic cladding running throughout the side profile. There is chrome garnish on the doors and door handles are too. The Scorpio gets regular door handles instead of flush-sitting ones. The turn indicators are also placed on the outside rearview mirrors which will also get an electric adjustment and will be electrically foldable also.
The rear gets vertical tail lamps that are Volvo inspired but the current Scorpio also has vertical tail lamps. The reversing lights are placed in the lower half of the bumper along with reflectors, chrome garnish and a skid plate.
The tailgate of the 2022 Scorpio still opens sideways as it has a regular door handle. There is a rear wiper with a washer. The Mahindra badge is missing on the test mule that has been clicked. It seems like there will be some kind of garnish just below the rear glass. The number plate holder is placed in the centre of the tailgate.
Recently, the interior was also spied in detail. It will be finished in a dark brown colour. The instrument cluster will be taken from the MX variant of the XUV700. The flat-bottom multi-function steering wheel was also from the XUV700 and had the twins peak logo.
There would be a tyre pressure monitoring system, a push-button to start/stop the engine, a touchscreen infotainment system, keyless entry, Hill Descent Control, Traction Control, Drive modes, dual-zone climate control, USB ports for charging, idle engine start/stop system, roof-mounted speakers and much more.
